HORACE, N.D.- (Valley News Live) A Horace neighborhood woke up to dry faucets and their street filled with water.

"We get a message from the city now if they're doing work or they're flushing hydrants, or there's a water main break or something like that," said James Swailes, who lives on the water covered street.

A water main break left a giant hole in a driveway, making it impossible to get in and out of the home.

"We have a reverse osmosis water filter in our basement. I have 6 gallons of water always on hand," explained Swailes. "So even though the water goes out at my sink in the kitchen, I have a tiny faucet that we can get drinking water out of, brush our teeth, wash our hands."

"The most impacting thing would have been cooking meals or something," said Swailes. "You need water for that kind of stuff."

A representative of Dirt Dynamics said it had nothing to do with the cold. The pipe had become corroded, causing it to break.
